Department of Animal Research Services

The UC Merced Department of Animal Research Services (DARS) is composed of a team of professionals committed to the advancement of science in collaboration with the research community by promoting the humane care and use of animals in biomedical research and teaching

 

DARS is responsible for managing the facilities in which animals are maintained for teaching and research programs at the university. DARS provides a full-spectrum of animal care and services including:

  • acquisition of equipment and supplies
  • acquisition and disposition of animals
  • consulting
  • veterinary services

 

The facility and animal care programs are managed to provide quality, humane animal care in compliance with federal, state, and university laws, regulations, and policies.
